Last weekend September 28 and 29 took place in Mallorca the XIII Spanish Sea Kayak Championship, in which the Balearic Islands were awarded 45 medals, among the senior, junior, sub23, veterans, cadets and children. The club’s paddler Josep Joan Cifre gave the bell with a gold in cadets. Also, we must highlight the performance of Elena García Horrach, Caterina Coll and María Reus, the three with podiums in this Championship.

The total number of displaced clubs was 43, from all over Spain, reaching 455 exclusive participants of the Spanish Championship, and 150 more participants who made the XXV Volta a les Illes Malgrats.

The children’s k-2, and k-1 cadet, senior, junior, under-23 and veteran tests were played on Saturday morning and in the afternoon, with Downwind departure from Costa d’En Blanes and from Portals Vells. With the headquarters of the tests at the Club de Mar as the main organizer of the tests on Saturday, where the awards ceremony took place.

The k-1 tests for children, traditional, mixed K-2, senior, junior, sub23 and veteran took place on Sunday at Santa Ponsa beach, coinciding with the XXV Volta a les llles Malgrats. This day the Calvià City Council was the main organizer. Both days we have a splendid day, in which the tests could be enjoyed, with the exits of land, and the surfing of the waves by the participants.

In the cadet category the winners were Josep Joan Cifre (CVPto Andratx) who took the gold, followed by Hugo Prendes Menéndez (CNSant Antoni), Carla Vey Suarez (RCNPalma and component of the Technification Center) took the silver, Alicia Heredia Avila (RCNPalma) achieved bronze as a senior lady.

In veteran lady, Gloria Sobrero (Club de Mar), Donatella Monteleone (Club de Mar), Elena Garcia Horrach (C.V. Pto Andratx), achieved bronze, silver and bronze respectively. Daniel Sánchez Viloria (C.N.Sant Antoni) achieved bronze in a senior category, one of the most complicated since it was qualifying for the international tests next year. In the U23 men’s category James Christopher George Fitzimmons (R.C.N. Palma) achieved victory despite suffering an unexpected turnaround in the first ciaboga, demonstrating his high level.

In the veteran man category 40-44 years Cesar Solis (Club de Mar) took the victory, Pedro Bordoy Febrer (Club de Mar) the silver in veteran 50-54 and Carlos Díaz Beltran (Club de Mar) the bronze in veteran 60-64 years

Daniel Bujosa López (Club de Mar) achieved silver in V-1 Polynesica. In the mixed senior K-2 Alexis Capdevila and Alicia Heredia obtained the silver, followed by Clara Cano and Sergio Hernaiz who won the bronze, both vessels of the R.C.N. Palma. In mixed veteran Gloria Sobrero and Cesar Solis of the Club de Mar, they won the victory, followed by Luis Derqui and Donatella Monteleone, both of the same club, in third place were Cristina Sastre and Lorenzo Torres of the Piraguas GM club.

In the traditional k-1 of Sunday Carmen Oliver was awarded the silver followed by Maria José Arranz both of the C.B.Balear.

In the K-2 lady cadet Carla Vey and Rocío Méndez hung silver. (both from RCNPalma and the Technification Center). In K-2 Cadet Man Sergi Ávila along with Albert Badia (R.C.N. Palma) were proclaimed champions of Spain. In this same category the bronze was taken by San Antoni thanks to Hugo Prendes together with Josep Ramon Ribas.

In K-2 junior man Lluc Matas and Eduard Sabrafín were runners-up, both of the (R.C.N. Palma) .Followed by Francisco Hormigo and Toni Pérez Prats of the C.ant Antoni.

In the category K-2 senior man James Christopher George Fitzimmons along with Borja Garcia Diaz (R.C.N. Palma) were made with silver. As well as Joan Gual and Xavi Gual in the k-2 sub23 category, also from R.C.N. Palma.

In the category K-2 senior lady Raquel Bota along with Elena Monleón (R.C.N. Palma) achieved gold, followed by Mar Ramon and Cato Sánchez (Club de Mar). In sub23 lady, Aida Caterina Bauza and Agnes Jaume took the silver for the R.C.N. Portopetro.

In the children’s categories, the champions were Andreu Garcia Boix along with Gabriel Morell in k-2 children’s man A, (RCNPalma), followed by the CN-K-2 of Antant, manned by Rodrigo Gonzalez and Eros Navarro and in third position Andreu Fuster along with Raúl González, from RCNPalma. In this same category, Caterina Coll along with María Reus obtained the silver, both of the C.V. Pto Andratx.

In the individual children’s boats María Reus (C.V. Pto Andratx) obtained the silver in Infantil dama A, from the same club Caterina Coll the bronze.
